USS Miami Crew World War II

Front and center in this World War II Navy unit photo is Clarence Luther, affectionately known as Sonny Norrell, standing proudly 5th from the right. Drafted into the military, Sonny's journey began as a servicemember, ultimately paving the way for his higher education. Upon returning home, he seized the opportunity offered by the GI Bill, embarking on educational pursuits at Del Mar College

Best All Round Boy

Here is Sonny Norrell in the 1948 Silver King year of what was UCC at the time. He had been voted "Best All Round Boy" and graduated in the seond class in 1950.

He is number 52, Sonny Norrell on the original football team here at UCC. They were once the fighting tarpoons.

Here is the wedding of Sonny Norrell and Jane Mitchell. They met at UCC and started dating while at college. They both went on to graduate and become eductors.
